Learn to eat, learn to speak, don’t forget to learn more… homestay culture

What do the new generation travelers know about homestay culture as well as what do you need to become likeable travelers when staying at homestay?

Homestay is a type of accommodation that is not very strange to tourists. Not only saving costs, homestay is also a place for you to make more friends and understand more about local life. However, with certain characteristics, homestay is not just a place to lie down, and you need to be more skillful and observant during your stay. So, what do you need to do to become a more lovable and likable new generation tourist when staying at a homestay?

1. Caring for the owner

Above all else, it is the homestay owners who will support you the most. Moreover, in some places you may not lose money or lose very little when choosing a homestay, so a gift to thank them is essential. A suitable gift, not too expensive like some special dishes, handicrafts… will be a delicate gratitude.

In addition to gifts, you should also send greetings, give compliments or sincere suggestions about their homestay, for example.

2. Learn and respect the community when staying at a homestay

– Learn from the homestay community

Homestay culture is a culture of bonding and sharing. Observe and listen to the community when experiencing homestay, you will surely learn and know many more good stories that you will not get when cozy in other luxurious rooms.

– Friendly and respectful of the homestay community

After observing, you should be friendly with the host and fellow homestay travelers if possible. This is also an opportunity for you to get to know more travel companions. Contacting and chatting with other guests at the homestay may give you more useful destinations and travel experiences?

– Do not invade public space

If you stay in a homestay, there is a high chance that you will live with the host or share a common living space with other tourists.

Therefore, you also need to pay attention to sharing politely when sharing these spaces and not intentionally invading, disturbing the common space too much… such as rolling out to watch TV all day in the living room, using the kitchen without cleaning or playing music, singing too loudly…

3. Environmental protection

Not only respecting homestay people, homestay culture also needs you to respect the surrounding space and nature. No need for big actions, just remember to collect your trash before you leave, prepare your own set of spoons, chopsticks/glasses instead of paper cups… you have become a precious person when staying at a homestay.

At first glance, homestay culture sounds like a “big knife”, but it also includes only 3 such small things. Hope you will have a rich experience journey and build some good relationships after the days of staying at your chosen homestay.
