Gardens in Tu Lien Ward bustle with shoppers for kumquat bonsai trees ahead of Tet

NDO – As Lunar New Year 2021 marks the Year of the Buffalo, gardeners in Tu Lien Ward, Tay Ho District, Hanoi, are providing shoppers with kumquat bonsai trees placed in buffalo-shaped pots.

The trees have been receiving special attention from kumquat growers months ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

It is not too difficult to grow kumquat trees in buffalo-shaped pots, the challenge is how to shape the tree nicely, which requires from one to two months with a lot of skill and persistence, according to Tam, the owner of Dung Tam Garden.

Tam revealed that this year, shoppers prefer bonsai trees to big-sized ones, and her garden has received a lot of orders for kumquat bonsai trees in buffalo-shaped pots since early December.
