1. About Moc Chau
Located in the Southeast of Son La province. It is about 180 km northwest of Hanoi. With a natural area of 1,081.66 km2, accounting for 7.49%, Moc Chau ranks 8/12 districts of Son La province. Moc Chau district has national highways 6, 37 and 43, sharing a border with Vietnam and Laos with a length of 40.6 km.
Moc Chau has four distinct seasons, characterized by temperate highlands, which are cool all year round. The average annual temperature is about 18-20ºC, the average rainfall is 1,500-1,600 mm and the average humidity is 85%.
Moc Chau Plateau is vast with cool weather conditions. This is a very convenient location for tourists traveling for a short time or staying for a long time. 3. Moc Chau tourism by what?
200 km from Hanoi, Moc Chau is a district of Son La province. You can get to Moc Chau from Hanoi by two modes of transportation: passenger car or motorbike.
3.1.Bus
There are many daily buses departing from My Dinh bus station, taking 5 hours to reach Moc Chau. Bus tickets are about 120,000 VND to 220,000 VND. You can take the bus from Hanoi to Son La, then ask to stop at Moc Chau. The best buses are Bac Son (tel: 0212 3551 559), Hung Thanh (tel: 1900636512), Hai Nam (tel: 0915 599 449). In which, Tuan Hien car (Tel: 0212 3867478) runs straight on the Hanoi – Moc Chau route, departing from My Dinh bus station, usually at 12:45.
3.2. Motorcycles, home cars
If you are more adventurous and choose a motorbike, the route is Hanoi – Thang Long Boulevard – Xuan Mai Town – National Highway 6 (QL6) – National Highway 43 (QL43) – Moc Chau. It will be very easy for you to use Google Maps to track the route along this route. You will see many beautiful mountain roads and pass through Hoa Binh province before reaching Moc Chau. Thung Khe Pass in Hoa Binh province is a great place to stop and take pictures before traveling to Moc Chau. If you prefer safety and comfort, you can choose a home car, which will save you more time but a bit inconvenient to stop to take pictures.
4. Where to go to Moc Chau?
4.1. Valley of the Valley
Thung Cuong is a Hmong village located between Dong Sang commune, Moc Chau district and Xuan Nha commune, Van Ho district. You have to cross a large valley covered with white canola flowers on the way to Ban Thung Cuong. This is one of the favorite wedding photography spots of young couples when traveling to Moc Chau.
4.2. Pa Phach Version
Located on Highway 6, Pa Phach village is 5 km from Moc Chau town. Pa Phach is inhabited by Thai and H’Mong people. Local people grow canola flowers to sell the seeds for oil. 4.3. Pine forest in Ban Ang
Ang Pine Forest is located in Dong Sang commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province. From Moc Chau town, follow Highway 43 about two kilometers to get there. Ang village has a natural lake with an area of five hectares surrounded by green pine forests planted on reddish brown hills. In the distance, the scenery of Moc Chau plateau with tea hills with thousands of colorful flowers is surprisingly poetic.
Ang village is a place where Thai people live mainly by farming, animal husbandry and handicrafts. 4.5. Dai Yem Waterfall

4.7. Five Dongs Ban On
Ngu Dong is located deep in the gorges of O Village and is quite isolated from the outside. It consists of four main caves located on one hill and an independent cave on the next hill. These five caves are often compared to the Chinese theory of the five elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. The stalactites formed from crystals over thousands of years have contributed to many unique shapes. 5. What to eat when traveling to Moc Chau?
5.1. Veal Chao (Fried Veal)
