Every day, Mr. Tran Van Hai’s organic vineyard (51 years old, residing in Bien Ho commune, Pleiku City, Gia Lai) attracts dozens of tourists to visit and enjoy the sweet fruits that have just been picked in the garden.

With an investment of nearly 1 billion dong, Mr. Hai brought down nearly 1,000 black currants on a total area of 2,000m2. This is also the first organic vineyard in the mountain town of Pleiku.

According to Mr. Hai, if a vine is well cared for and has favorable weather, it can harvest about 5kg of fruit/2 crops/year. Harvest period lasts 7-10 years.

After 3 years of eating and sleeping with the same vineyard, Mr. Hai said the advantage of this grape is resistance to pests and diseases and extreme weather. However, for healthy grapes, it is necessary to use organic fertilizers and biological drugs to treat fungal diseases.

“Currently, I am experimenting with another grape variety on basalt soil, in addition to the black bean variety. However, the results are not as good as when planted in other regions. I am doing more research to find the direction of grape growing for the highest yield. “, Mr. Hai added.

Hai’s vineyard is now bearing fruit after 3 years of cultivation. In addition to supplying the market, Mr. Hai’s vineyard welcomes visitors, picks grapes to enjoy and bring back.

Grapes picked at the garden cost 220,000 VND/kg. It is estimated that the harvest season alone, his vineyard gives more than 7 quintals, an income of more than 150 million VND.
