1. Bao Khanh Street

As a small street and more than 100m long, Bao Khanh street is the section connecting Le Thai To street and Hang Trong street. Although located right next to Sword Lake, the street is quite hidden and there are not many shops, so few people pay attention. The street is called Bao Khanh because it was formerly the land of Bao Khanh village. Although the official name is Bao Khanh, most people often call this street Bao Khanh.

In addition to Bao Khanh street, Bao Khanh alley right next to it is often misread as Bao Khanh. Bao Khanh Alley is the alley that cuts Bao Khanh Street and connects to Hang Hanh Lane, this alley is quite crowded with many restaurants and cafes.

2. To Tich Street

To Tich is a short street only about 90m from Hang Quat street to Hang Gai street. Literally, To Tich means “white mat”, but today there is no record of the profession of selling mats or making mats on this street. Maybe for convenience, many people have read To Tich Citadel To Tich.

Young people often call fruit jam street instead of the official street name, because there are many stalls selling fruit beams located close to To Tich small street. In addition to pickled fruits, there are also a few shops selling worshiping items at the top of the street. These families are from Nhi Khe village in Thuong Tin who brought wood turning and wood carving to this street. Handicrafts such as wooden trays or round incense sticks are sold at this shop along with small dishes on the altar.

3. Co Ngu Street

Today’s Thanh Nien road running between West Lake and Truc Bach Lake was once named Co Ngu. This name entered the lyrics of the song Hoa Sua by musician Hong Dang with the name Co Ngu in the poem “Old Co Ngu slowly walked back to us” so poetic. Co Ngu means “to hold firmly, sustainably” and is often remembered by the people with the camp’s name, Co Ngu.

Thanh Nien Street today is also known as Co Ngu.

This road between the two largest lakes in Hanoi is more than 1km long, starting from Yen Phu slope to the Quan Thanh – Thuy Khue junction. In the years 1957-1959, when the small Co Ngu street was contributed by young people in the capital to make the road bigger and more beautiful, Uncle Ho suggested changing its name to Thanh Nien street to recognize the contribution of young people to the city. On Thanh Nien Street today, there are two famous monuments: Tran Quoc Pagoda with the original name Khai Quoc and Quan Thanh Temple. During the autumn period in Hanoi, sitting at a high-rise cafe and looking at the immense lake is also an interesting way to enjoy the slowly falling sunset.
