Where is the Prince’s house in Bac Lieu?

Bac Lieu Prince’s house is located at 13 Dien Bien Phu, Ward 3, Bac Lieu city, about 105km from Can Tho and about 265km from Saigon.

This mansion was built by Mr. Tran Trinh Trach, also known as Mr. Dong Trach from 1917 to 1919. As a rich man, Mr. Tran Trinh Trach owned 74 fields of land, 110,000 hectares of rice land and nearly 100,000 hectares of salt fields. Although he has 7 children, 3 boys and 4 girls, the most famous is the son called by the name “Bac Lieu son” – Tran Trinh Huy. Accordingly, the total assets that Bac Lieu’s son inherited from his father and threw money into luxury games amounted to 5 tons of gold.

The special architecture of the Bac Lieu prince’s house

Although it is more than 100 years old, but so far this work has kept almost intact its unique architectural features. This villa was designed by a French engineer and most of the building materials were sent from France. Small materials such as bolts and screws to important construction details are stamped with French origin.

When entering the house of the prince of Bac Lieu, you will see that the most prominent is the delicate, luxurious and somewhat luxurious architecture. In the villa, there are outstanding ceiling lights with delicate lines and shimmering golden light. The pillars in the house are also decorated with beautiful and sophisticated patterns. All the patterns on the ceiling are hand-painted by French painters, even though it has been over 100 years, the paint and strokes are still intact as before.

The first floor of the mansion has 2 bedrooms, 1 living room and 2 large halls with stairs leading to the upper floor. The upper floor also includes 2 bedrooms, 2 large halls that are both spacious and airy, so this house is always airy and cool.

The stairs leading to the 2nd floor are made of marble and are divided into 3 segments, each segment has 9 steps to symbolize eternity and longevity. According to many people, the wooden staircase leading to the terrace of the mansion was formerly the place where Bac Lieu’s father used to dry money.
