Belarusian girl settled in Vietnam because of her passion for beautiful scenery

When I first came to Vietnam in 2016 and traveled to many places, Iryna Yang was surprised because everywhere there were beautiful scenes, from the sea, mountains, sand dunes, forests, caves, lakes, rivers, streams…

2022 is the 3rd year, Iryna Yang aka Tuong Vy, 26 years old, in Vietnam. She shared that six years ago, she came to Vietnam for the first time during a student exchange at a university. As a lover of travel, in 6 months she visited Huong Pagoda, Hanoi; Moc Chau and Ta Xua in Son La; Mai Chau , Hoa Binh; Ninh Binh ; Danang; Hoi An ; Ho Chi Minh City.

“I’m surprised because, in Vietnam, every landscape has from the sea, mountains, sand dunes, forests, caves, lakes, rivers, streams… but in my country, Belarus is not so diverse,” she said. and said that after the student exchange, she returned to Vietnam twice to travel and explore. Loving nature, warm climate, delicious food and friendly people, Iryna Yang was determined to settle down in Vietnam. She also said that there are many opportunities to develop her career here.

Now, she has learned to speak and write Vietnamese well and has many new habits such as wearing a sun-protective shirt from head to toe in the summer, using chopsticks, or going backpacking in her free time. Because she does not know how to ride a motorbike, she often goes with her boyfriend or friends to Vietnam. Usually, they will combine with mountain climbing, camping.

Most recently on her birthday, Iryna was given a surprise trip to Thai Nguyen by her boyfriend. They ride motorbikes from Hanoi for about 3 hours. After one day visiting the tea hills and resting in a homestay, the next day they spent 3 hours trekking through the forest to Cua Tu waterfall. Iryna shared the excitement of bathing in a natural waterfall for the first time, enjoying local rustic food at the end of the day and relaxing with a tobacco foot bath. Iryna shared “The scenery here is very wild, the waterfall stream is super cool in the middle of summer. The waterfall slide is a bit risky, but when I overcome it, I feel very happy”.

Up to now, Iryna has visited 20 provinces and cities such as Ha Giang , Son La, Bac Kan, Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue, Can Tho, Buon Ma Thuot … In which her favorite place in Phu Yen. She has been here twice and each time feels peaceful and recharged. During the trip, she also visited Quy Nhon , Binh Dinh, another very favorite destination.

Coming from a country located in a temperate climate zone, Iryna still surprises with winter in the North of Vietnam. She used to ride a motorbike in Ha Giang in winter, and on rainy days, it was very cold. Most of the time she has to move on the road, so the cold is a big challenge. “But this is a memorable memory for me. I get to see the majestic nature, stop to talk or drink tea with the locals,” she said.

The friendly, hospitable people are a big reason Iryna loves Vietnam. She feels that no matter where she goes, people are willing to help and make many new friends along the way. On her first trip to Da Nang, she lost her way and her phone ran out of battery, a local girl asked her, and took her back to the hotel. The next day they went out together and have been friends ever since.

Self-identifying as a food enthusiast, Vietnam is like a “paradise” for Iryna because there are many regions, the food from there is also diverse. Her favorite dishes are pho, sticky rice and grilled spring rolls. Iryna shared that in the coming summer, she will continue to explore the waters of Vietnam or the majestic mountains in the North. She also has a Tiktok channel with 104,000 followers to share about her life and travels.
