Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Vung Tau, Da Nang and Da Lat are among the top places in the list of most booked destinations.

The research was conducted from 1/6 – 31/8/2020 by Booking – one of the online travel platforms. Accordingly, the average travel distance of Vietnamese tourists has decreased by 33% (629 km) over the same period in 2019 (932 km) per booking. This rate is calculated based on the booking request of Vietnamese tourists. However, this figure is still considered much higher than the global average, which has now fallen by 63%.

The figures also show that in front of the impact of Covid-19, domestic tourism is growing unprecedented. 96% of the total travel distance of Vietnamese is in the country. In the same period last year, this figure was only estimated at 52%. In terms of accommodation facilities, the resort is the first choice for Vietnamese tourists, followed by resorts, hotel apartments, hotels and apartments for rent.

Besides, big cities and popular tourist spots still dominate. Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Vung Tau, Da Nang and Da Lat are the top places in the list of the most booked destinations, the rest are Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Hoi An, Quy Nhon, Ha Long. .

This study also shows that social changes in 2020 have affected tourism behavior and choice of tourists. The tourism trend is changing, when many Vietnamese people prefer remote destinations, they have now turned to explore neighboring areas.
