Jaipur, the gentle and poetic pink city of India

Not as crowded as the capital New Delhi, not as famous as Mumbai, but Jaipur city is still a name that many tourists mention when thinking about India. In the midst of the “burning” sun of the semi-desert region of India, Jaipur is like a sparkling ruby that attracts the attention of many people.

Jaipur is the largest city and also the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan. In 1727, Rajput Jai Singh II founded this city, the name of the city is also taken from his name. According to many records, the reason Jaipur was “covered” with a pink coat was also due to the intention of Raja Jawai Singh.

In 1876, to prepare to welcome HRH Albert Edward, Prince of Wales on a diplomatic visit, when he learned that his servants were nicknamed “pink-faced monkeys”, Raja Jawai Singh painted them. Revisit buildings and homes in Jaipur city to show hospitality and affection.

When arriving in Jaipur city, visitors are not only “overwhelmed” with outstanding architectural works with pink tones but also can feel something nostalgic in the architecture here. Jaipur is surrounded by soaring walls and a series of shops built of granite. Besides, you can also explore and learn many cultural heritages or unique works in Jaipur such as palaces, forts or ancient buildings in royal style.

Amber Fort

Amber Fort is a massive and characteristic structure that the people of the pink city of Jaipur are always proud of. This fortress consists of many giant ramparts with a series of gateways and intricately paved paths. Looking down from Amber Fort, you can zoom out to see the poetic and charming panorama of Maota Lake.

Unlike some other forts, Amber has a rather special architecture, this fortress is not “dry” but possesses murals and motifs bearing the imprint of Islam and Hinduism.

Hawa Mahal Palace

In addition to Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal is also a place that tourists cannot miss when coming to the pink city of Jaipur. The palace is a perfect combination of Mugha Muslim and Hindu Rajput architecture. Hawa Mahal features 953 meticulously carved and fancy windows.

In particular, this palace has a separate area for royal women, from their windows, they can observe the lives of the people around them without being seen by them.
