Located between Ho Chi Minh City and Dalat, the Madagui Forest Resort and Spa is a fun place to get some fresh air outdoors while traveling around Vietnam. The wooded city is set in the Da Huoai district of the Lam Dong Province.

Madagui situated about 22 kilometers east of Cat Tien National Park, nearly a 40 minute drive. There are trickling streams, elaborate plant life, and a cave system that attracts many people to come and explore throughout the forest. Aside from enjoying the natural setting, the forest offers an array of things to do outside, from casual sports to hiking and swimming.

The Madagui Forest Resort and Spa (affiliate link) is where to stay if you want to spend a few nights in the area. There are many types of accommodations at the resort, ranging from pool villa suites to standard hotel rooms to tent camping. Everyone can access the park’s amenities, and the property is a safe place to relax.

The resort has three restaurants on-site, each with its own flavors and style: Doi Mai, Tra My Vang, and Huou Sao. They all have great seating and views, perfect for taking in the sights and sounds of the forest while dining.

The most popular activity in these woods is exploring the cave system, which comprises four caves, each with a theme and dedication to a god. Some of them are easier than others, like the Fairy Cave, which is considered a place of beauty.

The Death Cave is more challenging, with 200 meters inside to trek and a depth of 20 meters, along with streams flowing inside. Each cave has its own story and link to the area’s culture.

There’s a drive-thru zoo to see some local animals, including deer and boars. The only section that people can get out is where the docile animals are.

Crocodile Feeding

Visitors can purchase pig lungs to feed small crocodiles on the property using poles. However, since the bait floats, it’s also possible to throw the food in to see if a croc makes an appearance.

There’s a three-tiered public swimming pool in the forest that can accommodate up to 1,000 people. This part of the park can get very crowded during the summer, and especially during Vietnamese holidays.

Fishing

Anglers will enjoy getting on a boat and dropping a line in the water at a nearby lake for a fee.

Hiking and Walking

The sky trails are fun to explore the more natural parts of the forest and feature ariel bridges that show off the local flowers and plant life. Occasionally, you’ll find a tree sticking out between the bridges, giving it a more rural feeling.

With a large selection of guns ranging from AK47s to M60s, visitors can choose one to participate in some target practice. There is always an instructor on-site that will provide users with protective earware.

Paintball

Built in 2008, Madagui has an impressive paintball course for visitors looking to play the game in a tree-filled setting. This activity does have extra fees involved, so be prepared to spend some to take part.
