Stop asking each other "When will we go to Ha Giang": Pack your things and go this weekend

It is said that Ha Giang is the land of dreamers, of beautiful youth, so every young person must visit it at least once in their life. Ha Giang in the spring is no longer immersed in the freezing cold of winter, but instead the forests are dotted with peach blossoms, plum flowers, pear flowers, and so on.

Located 300 km from Hanoi Capital, Ha Giang is a mountainous province in the northeast of Vietnam. Ha Giang shares its borders with China to the North, Tuyen Quang to the South, Cao Bang to the East, and Yen Bai to the West. This is also considered the northernmost point of the country, a land of great significance.

1. Travel schedule

If you are in Hanoi and want to move to Ha Giang, you can contact to book a ticket in advance from coach operators such as Bang Phan, and Cau Me. There are sleeper coaches for VND 200k/way and limousines for VND 300k/way. On Friday night, we started to get on the coach at 10 pm and arrived in Ha Giang City at 4 am. Rested, received a motorbike, had breakfast, and started check-in.

Day 1: Ha Giang City – Quan Ba (lonely pine tree) – Pao’s House – Meo King Palace – Lung Cu Flagpole – Lo Lo Chai Village – back to Dong Van Town (rested in Dong Van ancient town)

In addition, you can refer to some of the following check-in locations: Bac Sum Slope, Heaven Gate, Twin Mountain, and Yen Minh Pine Forest.

Day 2: Started moving from Dong Van center – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Nho Que River (Tu San alley) – Meo Vac (Mong ethnic culture village) – M-shaped road – Ha Giang city.

The whole journey by motorbike is about ~400km long. If you don’t have much time at each spot, everyone should check in quickly. From Meo Vac, 2 pm is the latest time to continue moving back to the city before dark.

2. Means of transportation

From Hanoi – Ha Giang: I chose Quang Tuyen coach. The car is clean and moves fast, but there are many inadequacies so I do not recommend this car.

Rented a motorbike at Giang Son hostel. The motorbike runs well without limitations, the owners are very enthusiastic, there is a travel schedule guide, and there is a place to rest for free if you come early.

3. Eat and rest

We arrived in Ha Giang at 4 am, then got off the coach, and stayed at the motorbike rental place with clean dorm rooms for free.

We chose Ancient Town – 29 Dong Van Old Town. You can refer to it for more information.

Had dinner at Vi Son restaurant in Dong Van old town, with full specialties and typical dishes of Ha Giang

Some notes:

– Should carefully check the motorbike while receiving (lights, turn signals, brakes, items that come with the vehicle, and more) to ensure the vehicle is safe to run during the journey. When you see the gas station, it’s highly recommended to stop for a fill-up

– Book a coach and make a reservation in advance to avoid unavailability in the peak season.

– The road to Ha Giang is now much more beautiful and easier to go than before, so girls can still have the ability to drive as usual.

– The check-in spots are very far from each other, so it takes time to go quickly, avoiding dangerous evening trips.
