The most unique basalt red house in Vietnam
LAM DONG – A land house in Dalat has a floating roof in the shape of a Vietnam map, the interior is made of red basalt soil, located next to Tuyen Lam lake.
The “Red Land House” is considered to be a unique architecture in Vietnam. The house is located next to the complex of “sculpture tunnel” in the campus of Sao Da Lat tourist area, near the scenic Tuyen Lam lake, about 10 km south of Dalat city center.
The house built from basalt red soil is the work of artist Trinh Ba Dung, the owner of this tourist area. The unique feature of the project is basalt red soil, a typical material of the Central Highlands. Through many trials for a long time, artist Trinh Ba Dung and his colleagues have found a formula to make an unburnt material from basalt red soil and some other additives. The special thing is that this material retains the specific color of the soil. This new basalt soil material has good bearing capacity, high durability, and can withstand the effects of nature, rain and sun.
The work has two main blocks with sloping roof connecting each other in the middle, facing Tuyen Lam lake in front of the house, the surrounding space is water. From the outside, the house has symmetrical architecture, with the main entrance to the house is a small bridge.
On one side of the gable was the bedroom. The wall at the head of the bed covers the cultural images of the Central Highlands.
In the middle is the dining room, also a common living place, with a large set of tables and chairs made of earth.
The house has a fireplace, the toilet area is made of earth with many modern sanitary facilities.
The other wing has a bedroom and a seating for entertainment. The bedroom has a bed above the water.
The roof frame is made of wood and the roof is made of basalt red earth.
