Vietnam 43 days without infecting the community nCoV

On the morning of October 16, the Ministry of Health did not record a positive case for nCoV, 43 days without community infection.

Over the past 24 hours, two more cases were reported, one recovered. Total number of infections is 1,124, out of 1,030. The death toll from Covid-19 was 35, with four deaths after three to four negative tests.

The remaining patients are being treated in 12 mostly stable health facilities, of which 8 tested negative for nCoV once, five were negative for the second time, and 12 were negative for the third time.

Up to now, Vietnam has recorded 691 cases of Covid-19 caused by domestic infections, the rest are on entries. The increase in the number of cases over the past month is all entries. The total number of people who have been in close contact and entering from the quarantine area is over 13,000. In which, isolation concentrated in the hospital more than 150; concentrated isolation more than 12,000, the remainder at home or accommodation.

At the meeting of the National Steering Committee against Covid-19 on October 15, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam emphasized “it is impossible to be subjective, not to let the lesson of Da Nang become meaningless”.

Experts, members of the Steering Committee, assessing the world are facing a long outbreak. The coming winter, especially in the North, will be favorable conditions for Covid-19 to develop and spread.

Mr. Dang Quang Tan, Director of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health), suggested that large cities with high population density such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Nha Trang … should force people to wear masks when away from home. Those who violate will be punished. This regulation has been applied by HCMC.

The risk of disease is always present when international routes are gradually opened up. The Ministry of Health recommends that people raise their alert for epidemic prevention according to the 5K message: masks – disinfection – distance – no gathering – medical declaration.
