The Southern Fruit Festival takes place on the first of June and is the largest fruit festival in Vietnam. This event celebrates the agricultural products of farmers through a variety of activities, such as a fruit-shaping contest, art performances, and various conferences on introducing and promoting new technologies in planting fruits.

On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, Ho Chi Minh City celebrates Tet Doan Ngo, also known as the Vietnamese Mid-Year Festival. This festival marks the middle of summer and is celebrated with festivities intended to ward off evil spirits and epidemics that can be caused by the scorching heat.

June is one of the slowest seasons of the year with regards to tourism, as many people prefer to travel to other regions to avoid the torrential rains and uncomfortable heat. However, June is a wonderful time to visit Ho Chi Minh City for those interested in seasonal fruits.

Rain gear, including a raincoat and umbrella, is an absolute necessity when visiting Saigon during this time of year as rainfall occurs for over half of the month. Otherwise, all you need to wear is light, sweat-absorbent t-shirts and shorts.

Escaping to the countryside to avoid the rain is generally off the table during this time of year as roads can become severely flooded. Travel with caution in the highlands and rural roads.
