After more than a week of strong seas due to the influence of Storm Noru, two days through Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) the sea was calm and clear, especially the western beaches of the island. This is also the time when Phu Quoc begins the shrimp season.

Early in the morning, when the sun has not yet risen, the water is cool, so the water is “red”. Mr. Pham Quoc Thai – the owner of a hotel in Quarter 7, Phu Quoc City – saw the fish pulled close to the shore, along with the staff and tourists, grabbing a shovel.

People point out that it takes about four or five steps to rest with a shovel racket. Many visitors are extremely excited when they first witness the water in the red like that. People shoveled in less than 5 minutes, they were nearly 10kg, enough to share, but not much.

Boundless fish drag along with fish such as golden thread, silverfish also come in to hunt, many fishermen in Truong beach, Duong To commune use seine nets to catch fish.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, a tourist in Ho Chi Minh City, said: “In the morning, it’s really fun to see people catching shrimps. There are a lot of fish here, people bring their nets out to collect for about 30 minutes, there are more than 30kg of shrimp and all kinds of fish.”

The most beautiful Phu Quoc beach starts at the time of changing the wicked season – the most beautiful season of the year, lasting nearly 6 months. Every time the season changes, the people of Phu Quoc are excited to prepare tools for shoveling and fishing.

Usually, the season lasts for nearly a month. Once caught, people dry it to cook soup or make other dishes.
