Before approaching the top, visitors stop to rest at U Bo Ranger Station. The station is located in a remote area, the nearest residential area is up to 40 km away. This area has no grid electricity, but there is still a phone signal. The station manages nearly 5,000 hectares of the primeval forest.

From U Bo Ranger Station, under the guidance of rangers, it takes visitors about 40 minutes to reach the top of the mountain. The path is not steep, lying under the canopy of the primeval forest with old trees as big as two people. If lucky, visitors can see douc langurs, siki gibbons… on the way. However, this area is wet, dense under the trees so there are many squeezing. Visitors should prepare anti-squeezing medicine, pants and long socks.

The right time to enjoy the scenery on U Bo is from March to August. The climate here is cool all year round, in the early morning and late afternoon there are often clouds covered, feeling like being in Sapa or Da Lat.

On the top of U Bo is the forest ranger’s fire watchtower. On the watchtower, looking around, visitors can admire the majestic primeval forest. Hidden in the forest canopy is the Ho Chi Minh road that winds along the mountainside. According to forest protection officer Ho Van Niem, sometimes at the fire watchtower, he encounters flocks of langurs and monkeys passing branches. On clear days, from the watchtower, you can look towards Dong Hoi city.

Before the Covid-19 epidemic, many groups of foreign tourists often traveled through this road and visited the ranger station to see the top of U Bo mountain. Currently, the U Bo peak is still unspoiled and has not been exploited for tourism much. In the future, this area can be planned as an eco-tourism destination, giving visitors an extra experience when coming to Quang Binh.
