QUANG NAM – Mr. Tran Van Phuc in Tam Thai commune, Phu Ninh district, collects old objects to tell the story of life and activities of the past to his descendants.

Mr. Phuc, 47 years old, wants to remind his children and grandchildren of a difficult time when people lived mainly by farming, so they collected farming tools and utensils in the past. After many years, he now owns more than 2,000 artifacts.

In his childhood, Mr. Phuc was acquainted with many old farm tools and utensils, but now that society has developed, people don’t use them and sell them. “Since 2007, I’ve been looking everywhere. When I see any artifacts people don’t use, I’d like to buy them,” he said. Valuables, he kept in the house of nearly 100 square meters.

The indoor wall displays many war items and daily necessities. Mr. Phuc said that many items were bought, but the next day the owner came to ask for it back. “I really appreciate that item, but when they ask for it, they return it,” he said, sharing that buying things takes a long time, some convincing many times before they sell.

The copper plate with many unique motifs was bought by Mr. Phuc 10 years ago in the Tien Phuoc district for more than 30 million VND.

“I’m very fond of the mill because this is a memory of a time when pounding rice,” said the owner, adding that his childhood was attached to it until the mill was available.

Mr. Phuc is renovating a land of more than 4,000 m2 located next to the concrete road that runs parallel to the North-South highway, next to the extended Tran Phu street. In that large garden, he is completing the items of the old artifact display area.
