QUANG TRI – Chenh Venh Village opens an eco-tour, explores the primeval forest, and learns about the lives of indigenous people.

On April 20, at Chenh Venh village (Huong Phung commune), the Health Commission of the Netherlands – Vietnam (MCNV) in Quang Tri and the People’s Committee of Huong Hoa district inaugurated an eco-tour to explore community forests. The tour combines learning about the life of Van Kieu ethnic minority people and discovering the natural landscapes of Chenh Venh waterfall and bamboo forest, primeval natural forest protected by the Chenh Venh people.

Chenh Venh village has an area of ​​1,500 hectares, with 130 households, 440 people, 100% Van Kieu people. The village is located close to the west branch of Ho Chi Minh Road, surrounded by mountains, forests, rivers, wild and majestic hills, especially the scenic Chenh Venh waterfall. Typical agricultural products in this region are bamboo shoots, charcoal sticky rice, Ban wine…

At Ro Ve residential cluster, visitors will experience the life of the Van Kieu people, buy and sell local agricultural products, then go to Chenh Venh waterfall, a majestic landscape in the middle of Truong Son mountains. Sa Mot Hill (fog), the area where people graze cattle and do farming, is also on the itinerary. This hill is a grassland of more than 20 hectares, located on the top of Sa Mu pass with a height of more than 1,000 meters, an ideal point to watch the clouds fly between the mountain peaks.

During the tour, visitors also visit and experience the vast bamboo forest, primeval forest with a certificate of sustainable forest management. This forest is nearly 1,000 hectares wide, protected and preserved by the people of Chenh Venh.

In the evening, people will treat guests to local dishes such as sticky rice, chicken, grilled pork, wild vegetables, boiled bamboo shoots… Visitors can choose to sleep in a house on stilts or a tent on the top of Sa hill. Ten to watch the dawn in the mist. In addition, depending on the time of year, visitors can also enjoy special festivals of the Van Kieu people such as the New Rice Festival, wedding ceremony…
